Image Essay # 7

This image is a prime representation of Gothic because it shows the true darkness that we all possess and some choose to let it out sometimes. Goth is more than just dressing up in dark clothing or worshiping Satan, it is a way of life and not everyone understands it. Some Gothic people believe that they are a symbol of immortality almost like they are a real life vampire or something. I am one of those people but even though I don’t understand the lifestyle I do respect them for having individuality and not being afraid to show it. When looking at this piece you see the term Gothic as more than just a lifestyle it’s a way to color art. Just by the use of blacks and whites and different combinations of both you get the feeling that you are in a dark place with no light source at all. I t makes you think that you are in a dark, dreary place and that you should be afraid because there is no telling what may be down there. This image is a narrative about a dramatic scene in which you get the sense that they are involved in something that can be seen as immoral but yet they are doing it tastefully. Just by looking at it I get a feel that you can see some of the movie “Underworld’s” imagery in it.
